Monday morning.
And so we must move on and say our sad farewells to Myra and Bill and continue with the next part of our adventure. Bill has given Michael loads of information of places to visit but first we are venturing up into the foothills of the Appalachians.
A travelling and restocking the vittals day and getting ourselves settled into The Crooked Creek RV Park. As it is still very hot we just had to stop and have a beer and look at the view.
Hiring a car for the next couple of days to see the local sites and water falls. At least we will get there with not so many unplanned detours as the number one navigator can take over and I'll drive !!!!
As Jennifer said play to your strengths !

The Easter Sunday Easter Egg Hunt
We make it safely to our friends Myra and Bill's beautiful home where we are treated to "good old southern hospitality" over the Easter weekend.

For those of you that don't know these are folk that we met last year on our tour of Alaska who said when you come on your trip to the USA do come and visit with us. They were travelling with other family members and we were also lucky enough to be able to meet up with them again on this visit and also to meet Myra and Bill's lovely daughters and grandchildren.

I'm sorrry for you folks back home with our usual Easter of wet and damp weather as ours was HOT HOT HOT !! We gather it was unusally hot more June temperatures than April. We had a wonderful time, visiting Janis (Bill's sister) and Jimmy's beautiful house on Lake Burton, seeing some of the local area and people and of course Myra and I just had to go shopping for shoes while the boys watched the golf. I discovered I love grits !
Sunday we met the extended family so many names and faces but we managed to sort who was who and had great fun and a huge feast rounded off with the childrens Easter egg hunt.
Michael spent a fair part of the weekend in his favourite position on the the verandah gazing at the the most spectacular view and watching the buzzards soaring on the thermals.
Life is good.

This one is for Clive

Another beautiful morning. Headed out for bike ride to Camp Creek. One and half hour round trip, good bit of exercise as very much up and down hill. All lakeside property is privately owned so not able to access very much of lake but Camp Creek very pretty and quiet.
All very good sized properties and many up for sale, ummmm ! It turns into a very hot day temps in 80's and set fair for the Easter weekend.

Wednesday 31st Lake Hartwell a day for chillin'

Fishing on the lake

Trail to beaver dam

Beaver dam
Very chilly overnight but another beautiful morning and so quiet and peaceful. I have beaten up the owners (as it happens they are Brits from Calshalton) and we now have an internet connection, yippeeeeeeee. I spent the morning catching up on blog and e-mails and my boy had a good rest and reading session. Spot of lunch and took to the hiking trail and the beaver dams. Again disappointed with the trails, once more they are not maintained and we ended up this time on private property but no big dogs so got away with that one !! However it was a great chillin' day and it's sunny and hot. Feeling relaxed. Life is good.
