Blowing Rock

Well sorry to be boring but it's another beautiful morning. The locals say this will last now all summer. First stop today is Blowing Rock which was a little bit of a disappointment, however the views were stunning and we stayed a while and soaked up the views and the peace and quiet.

Enough standing about it was time to move on back to the Blue Ridge Parkway and again fantastic views.
We drove through one of the sections that was really badly affected in the winter ice storms. It is really sad to see the damage to the trees but the NPS have done a sterling job of getting the parkway open again for us all to enjoy.
Stopped for packed lunch at E B Jeffress Park and walked the trail to the cascades. For once an easy nature hike although it did involve of course quite a few steps.
We are suffering a bit from the thin air of the altitude but a small price to pay

Yippee a trail that is "easy"

Back to Boone to return the hire car as we move on up the Blue Ridge tomorrow to Fancy Gap ! Each time we have hired a car the person who collects us from the campsite has been really interesting and helpful with local knowledge.
Listening to Ken Bruce on the BBC i-player and soooo pleased we are missing all of the election hype !!!
