Saturday 1st May and our first drive of The Blue Ridge Parkway

Still dry this morning but some heavy dark clouds over the mountains. Very excited about at last driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. We got on at mile marker 380, very lttle traffic and we meandered along stopping at various overlooks, all really good with plenty of space for our rig. It was very foggy/low cloud in places but brilliantly clear in others. We stopped for a sandwich and leg stretch at Crabtree Meadows marker 340 and decided against the hike to the waterfall. Let's give our old legs a rest ! It was a very scenic pretty drive with masses of wild spring flowers. We were "delayed" in one area while workers continued their clear up of fallen trees/branches from the severe winter storms they experienced this year.

Our rig in one of the overlooks

Just love the names of some of the overlooks
One of the many tunnels on the Blue Ridge, we drove through 10 today

Next pic is Table Rock Mountain with telephoto, it was a great view

Linville Falls camp site, very nice, very quiet. Our rig parked behind totem, this was carved by local artist from a fallen tree. Catching up with blog now as no internet at this camp site, in fact no TV either so we had for a change a jolly good book reading session.
