Saturday 15th May moving onto Illinois

Lovely sunny morning and we are I'm sad to say very pleased to see the back of the Crawfordsville camp site. It is part of the KOA franchise but is really not up to standard to say the least. We're off onto the I-74 west to Illinois to a camp site called Hickory Hollow so of course our song for the day is Hickory Hollers' Tramp. Michael did try a few renditions of Chicago as we travelled along skirting the edges of that fine city. We decided once again not to go by interstate apart from the first few miles and mostly used the us24 west which took us approx 100 miles in a straight line through small farming communities. At Benson County Indiana we drove through the largest wind turbine farm we have ever seen, it stretched across the horizon as far as the eye could see in all directions and all of the ones we could see were moving !!!!

Sorry folks lots of water towers today
Welcome to Illinois and a comfort break

Well we travelled 160 odd miles today mostly along side or criss crossing the railroad tracks and I didn't have the pleasure of seeing one train !!!!!!

Latest site. Hickory Hollow Camp Site
It did turn cloudy during the morning and listening to the radio storms were forecast for central Illinois but we turned north and missed it apart froma few spit spots of rain. It is much cooler here though. Nice friendly camp and clean and yipppeeee good wifi connection so I can catch up :)
