Ok folks, I'm typing this in the laundry room as it's the only place I can pick up the wretched wifi !! My glass of wine is back in the rig so I shall be brief !!
We arrived in Crawfordsville, Indiana this afternoon after a very wet start to the day. We made a last minute decision to travel the 38west instead of the interstate and we were so glad we did as we had heavy rain and lightening for quite a lot of the journey and the interstate with the big trucks would have been a nightmare. As it was we travelled a very good one lane highway, we had some trucks and traffic but not too much. We passed through some neat little towns and villages, sadly due to rain no photos, and of course difficult to park up the rig although we did find a couple of spots to park and have a comfort break. Noblesville and Lebanon looked to be attractive interesting towns.
I did manage a few pics which I shall post on the blog when I can next connect.
Needless to say the first song of the day was Indiana Wants me but changed to The Monkees as we passed by Clarksville.
We picked up our hire car (staying here 3 nights) another Dodge Cobalt, black one this time, late afternoon and had look-see of Crawfordsville. Sadly as in a lot of places we have visited a lot of businesses have closed down due to the economic climate and Wal-Mart.
As I was suffering withdrawal symptoms we visited the library (I have had a lot of very vivid library dreams lately!) A big brand spanking new building and very much in the "discovery centre" mode (library folk will know what I mean) We were impressed with it apart from the adult fiction which was terrible. The stock was sooooooo old ! We did feel that they were trying to fill the vast space which could have been easily achieved by forward facing the books. I nearly got stuck in !!!!! We had a great chat with one of the librarians but I managed to zip my lip about how best the stock could be displayed.
Ok I'm in need of a glass of wine so I shall sign off now.
We are out tomorrow in search of covered bridges, seems there are 40 in the area so watch this space for pics. I'm hoping the jolly old wifi will be better tomorrow. Forever the optimist !
Also must check out drive in movie theatres as we were under the impression that not many remained but there was one as we left the camp site today. It's one of the things on our bucket list but don't think they would allow the rig in !!!

Hi Guys, Hope your trip is still going well. We have just watched the Weather Channel and seen more storms headed towards the area you are headed. Hopefully fingers crossed you will miss them. You sure are doing some miles! How many so far?
ReplyDeleteWe are now on Maui in another condo and have a local bar that is doing Happy Hour Mai Tai's at $4.50 so we have to take a hike there every night for exercise. Tonight we met up with two delightful ladies from Portland Oregon who have offered us a bed if ever we get to there area.
The weather here is windy and cloudy but a balmy 88 degrees.
I am still looking for a water tower to photograph for Sue but to no avail, most of the water over here seems to come out of a bore hole in the ground!
Keep on trucking!
T&M xx
p.s. We have now adopted your theme of a musical theme for the day. For the last ten days it has been Lei Lady Lei!
