A day out at the beach

Second to last camp site !
Rain early morning (you really know when it rains in a motorhome !) but all over by 7 ish and then sunny and hot all day. Staff here working frantically to get the site ready for the holiday weekend, we think they have left it a bit late, the pools are certainly not looking well ! They were re-grading the drive at 07.30 and they still haven't spread the bark mulch, I would so love a rake and get stuck in !! Perhaps we could get a free night here if I volunteered ! Enough thinking about work and off to the beach on our bikes. Well the 2 miles was actually 3 and what with the 3 miles of broadwalk that we traversed several times we did about 15 miles by the time we got back home.....very saddle sore !!!!
Harbour area at Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach to the left
Virginia Beach to the right
Beach very similar to Mytle Beach

Commerative area to the history of aircraft carriers

ummmm !

I did venture into the sea and it was surprisingly not that cold.
We had to laugh when one chap we spoke to thought that Michael sounded like Jeremy Clarkson, he didn't know wether to be flattered or insulted !
I do have to mention the jets! The largest naval base in the world is minutes away in Norfolk, along with Naval Air Station Oceana and Langley Air Force Base in Hampton so never a dull moment. Our waitress in the restaurant at lunch time said "you're not from around these parts are you" when we looked for the planes flying over ! I guess it could get tedious but we have fun watching the air display.
We have booked onto a dolphin watching cruise tomorrow

  1. OMG. I am getting withdrawal symptoms already! Those beaches and blue skies are reminding us of where we have just been. Don't worry too much about the bark raking, they will have a man who does! As for cycling 15 miles! Don't you two ever sit still? We are now in the US Airways Envoy Lounge at Philadelphia airport awaiting our flight back to Manchester. Oh, and having a cheeky few free glasses of wine before we board.

    See you back in Blighty.

    T&M xx

  2. Well seems the weather in UK is wet and windy so do hope it improves for all the working folk. We feel sorry for folk here too as today has been showery but still very warm and it's their holiday weekend too. One family are having to go home tomorrow as they had big snow in Feb and the schools had to close so they are having a make up day on Monday !!!
