Monday May 3rd

Very heavy rain overnight and this morning. As we are just moving on to Boone, (ok for some reason the song for today is Everyones Gone to the Moon ! Is he still in jail ?? ) approx 30 miles, we delayed our departure until mid morning in the hope the weather improves. We then headed off down the 221north as the next 20 miles of the Parkway are closed for repair due to the winter storms. Rain did ease and rest of day just cloudy and again muggy, not complaining as we are in the mountains. We are at an elevation of 4000 feet here in Boone
This is the first day of our travels that I have not taken a single photo !!!! I'm sure I shall make up for it tomorrow !
We have hired a car for a couple of days as one of the places we want to go is Grandfather Mountain and they don't allow motorhomes to travel the 2 miles of switchbacks to get to it !!!
This time when we asked for a compact we got one !! My latest drive is a Kia which will be perfectly fine for getting us around, in fact we took ourselves off into town this evening and had dinner at a really fabulous fish restaurant.
Camp site very quiet and peaceful, it has only just reopened for the season so not too many folk here yet. While we were in Boone there were some dark clouds but back up here it is very clear and sooo peaceful and a starry night.

  1. Hi M&S,

Your trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway is bringing back many happy memories for us, as we did many trips along it when we lived in Charlotte NC.

We are now in Sedona AZ, the scenery is awesome. Back to Phoenix tonight then flying to Hawaii tomorrow. Whaoooo!

Bet you are gald you visited Nashville when you did the flooding looks horrendous. I hope the bad weather has not imapcted you too much.

    Stay safe.

    T&M x
