Rain stopped and off to Starved Rock State Park where once again the visitors centre staff were brilliant and gave us info and marked out a round trip hike for us.
We had a great day and so glad we didn't let the threat of rain stop us from going as the rain held off and we hiked for nearly 4 hours and saw some fabulous canyons, birds, including pelicans in flight and of course wild flowers. We had to be careful of the poison ivy and we had the usual steps up and down, in fact hundreds of them !! It was also very muddy as there had been a very heavy rain fall last week but a very enjoyable day. Got back to camp site and it started raining so we timed it perfectly !

Hi Sue and Slim!
ReplyDeleteNice waterfalls - where are the mermaids? So you got that train, do they have that wonderful evocative whistle as they do in Canada, its one of my abiding memories of Canada, that train whistle bouncing off the Rockies.
Seems you are still having fun and I'm enjoying the piccies! Take care!
Alan
The mermaid was taking the photos !!!
ReplyDeleteThe trains seem to have more of a horn than a whistle and I really love it, it echoes far and wide.
Slim thinks it's not so great when the camp site is near the railroad line and he's trying to sleep !
There's quite a gale here at the mo and we had planned BBQ pork and corn on the cob !!!!
