Friday 23rd Big South Fork Scenic Railway

Up and at 'em early and back over the mountain to Stearns to ride The Big South Fork Scenic Railway. We had rain overnight but it turns into a hot sunny day
Music to entertain us while we wait for the train
Oh wow, a water tower and two trains at the same time, I'm in heaven !!
Our scenic train
We had expected hard board seats but these were quite comfortable and swiveled round to face the way the train travelled

Very picturesque route
Passed through an old mining camp
The ride is about 8 miles (trip about 3 hours) to an old mining camp which fell into disrepair but has since been renovated as an historic site. There were a few classes of school children on board on an educational trip. We stopped here for lunch and a good look around. Michael did his second good deed of the week by helping the teachers unload the pack lunches.
The following picture is taken from the bridge that is in this picture.
This was the old mine rails to the tipples
View from the bridge (old mine track)
Off now in the red beast to Yahoo Falls, sadly unimpressive, but then we have seen so many fantastic sights and waterfalls and hey my second treat of the day as we had to stop along the way for a train to pass !!!!!

Next stop Natural Arch Scenic Overlook. This reminded us very much of our wonderful trip into Zagoria National Park in mainland Greece a few years ago
This limestone arch formed by natural erosion
Scenic view from another overlook
Umm me and my boy ! Totally OTT for our needs but fun !
